The Veiðivötn Lakes are a group of approximately 50 lakes of various sizes located in the Icelandic highlands. Most of the lakes are crates formed during the eruption of Veiðivötn around the year 1480. The lakes span an area close to 20 km in length and 5 km in width and are situated in an oblong basin. Most are of small size or under 1 square km.
